Reviving Old Jeans

I don't know about you, but I find it difficult to part with old jeans, especially those with a great fit. I have an old black pair from Forever New that was just that, and it was a sad day when I realised that it had faded too much to be presentable anymore.

I've been on a search for a new pair for quite some time, and even though I found a good alternative, nothing beats a pair of comfy, worn in jeans. One day, I came across the idea of dyeing it back to black and I thought I'd give it a try!

One pack of Dylon fabric dye in velvet black and 1.5 hours later, my old jeans have been revived! I placed it against a new pair of jeans in the pictures above to show the difference in the degree of blackness before and after.

Although it isn't *entirely* black, I'd say it has been restored to about 90% of its former glory. The packet did mention that the dye would be suitable for pure fabrics such as cotton and linen, and also cotton / polyester blends, but these would result in a lighter shade. (My jeans were 68% cotton, 28% polyester and 4% elastane.)

All in all, I am really happy with the results. There was a little bit cleaning up to do and my arms got a bit sore from the constant stirring, but it was really worth the 8 dollars and time and effort. Fingers crossed that it won't fade as easily this time!
