It's been so long since I last had a chai latte I almost forgot how much I love its aromatic smell and taste.
Hubby ordered a jungle juice which was basically a mix of everything. We were quite disappointed though, as we could really only taste carrot and not much else.
I decided to have the 'El Hefe', which I later found out to mean 'the boss' in Spanish. It was a plate of toast with poached egg, smashed avocado, spanish onion, jalapeño, shanglish and toasted corn. It is definitely not your average smashed avocado on toast. The variety of ingredients made the dish so interesting - there was the creaminess from the avocado, spicy kick from the jalapeños, crunchy texture from the toasted corn and of course, a golden richness oozing from the poached egg. It's hard to be impressed at brunch nowadays but I have to say I really liked this!
Hubby had the macho man randy sandwich, which was an English muffin stacked with pork and fennel sausage, bacon, spinach, scrambled eggs and chives, drizzled in bulldog sauce. It was a clear thumbs up from hubby!
We found the portion sizes very appropriate (i.e. not excessive) and this was also reflected in the pricing. With so many customers we weren't really expecting to be served quickly but staff were very efficient. Overall, everything was great apart from a rather ordinary mug of juice. This place will be going on my good list!
