Nature Boy, Murrumbeena

For the past few months, I have been dwelling in the comfort of familiarity, revisiting old favourites like Cafe Carpenter and Nuts Chan. Last week, I decided it was time to break out of my shell and start exploring again. An early Sunday breakfast at Nature Boy in Murrumbeena seemed like the perfect way to kickstart this delicious habit once again.

I got my dose of refreshment with this mixed juice. I loved the bold use of ginger, it felt awesome to get such a kick from a few sips!

Hubby ordered an iced mocha which was a little out of the ordinary. Its sweetness was a little too much for me to handle on such an early morning, but it was invigorating all the same.

My breakfast of choice was the breakfast board, consisting of small amounts of a variety of goodies - bread, smoked salmon, pickles, chicken liver pâté, chorizo, duxelles and a soft boiled egg. Each component was a delight to the taste buds, but my ultimate favourite was the egg. Crack the top of the shell and just delve into the gooey goodness of the yolk. Yum.

Once again, hubby went against his nature and ordered a sweet dish of waffles. He quite enjoyed it but I'm pretty sure he must have felt like he was drowning in sugar by the end of our meal.

All in all, the café certainly surpassed our expectations in terms of food and atmosphere. Despite the crowd, we received prompt service with a smile, not to mention the very reasonable prices as well. As many others have commented, it is also a great place for families to hang out, there's plenty of space and even a playhouse in the backyard. I'm very glad to add this café to my list of neighbourhood gems!
