Cultural Commons, Springvale

I've heard many things about Cultural Commons, a relatively new modern Australian café in the eastern suburbs. Most people comment on its unorthodox location - after all, Springvale is a suburb known to be heavily influenced by Asian cultures. Nevertheless, it's great to have something different thrown into the mix. I've been told time and time again that I have to try out their burgers, so off we went!

There was no need to look at the menu, as I knew instantly that I was going to go for the soft shell crab burger. We were shocked by its size when it arrived, and it probably didn't help that we had had two breakfasts that morning. The soft shell crab, juicy and and crunchy, was served alongside spring onion, coriander salad and spicy mayo, all within some delectable brioche buns. It was amazing. The brioche was so deceivingly light and fluffy I barely had room for chips after. The chips were light and crispy, and paired with a garlic aioli, it was the perfect side.

Hubby decided to have the hot chick burger, which was fried chicken with jalapeños, slaw and spicy mayo. He thoroughly enjoyed it, and was more than happy to finish off my portion of the chips for me.

We thought they served up great burgers and at very reasonable prices as well. We found the café very spacious, and you could choose to sit in booths or common tables. I can see that it would be a great place for merry gatherings!
