I am currently taking a one week break from work just because, and I have been, as my best friend calls it, gallivanting around everywhere looking for great places to eat, shop and relax.
My first stop was at Mr Pilgrim, Chadstone. I visit Chadstone Shopping Centre pretty frequently but I didn't know this café existed up until last week, when I was searching their website for places to eat. It is located on the outside near the banks, close to where the Myer car park is. If you going from the inside, it's right around the corner when you exit from the entrance where Seed is.
So it seems like everyone else had already known about this place for yolks because there were so many people! I grabbed a small table in the corner, put aside my shopping bags and ordered at the counter.
As I have mentioned, I have developed a liking for chai ever since I visited Platform 3. This is Mr Pilgrim's take on this aromatic beverage.
For my main, I ordered a dish called Mrs Pilgrim, and it came with all sorts of lovely things such as potato rosti, avocado, rocket, smoked salmon, a poached egg and hollandaise sauce. I must admit that I wasn't expecting too much (we all know how hard it is to find good food in Chadstone), but I was quite pleasantly surprised.
The star of the dish had to be the potatoes, ever so light and crunchy on the outside but soft and mushy on the inside. I also appreciated the fact that there was enough hollandaise sauce to go around the whole dish. The poached egg wasn't the most presentable, but the runny centre made up for it.
In conclusion, this café was a happy discovery. It is one of the better eateries in the shopping centre, a great alternative if you want to escape from the generic restaurant chains and food court.
