Shallot Thai, Malvern East (via Menulog)

Thanks to Menulog, I had the opportunity to have a meal from Shallot Thai, Malvern East delivered to my front door.

If you haven't heard of Menulog, it is a website or app that allows you to order takeaway from restaurants in your area, either for you to pick up or to be delivered. Once you key in your postcode, Menulog brings up all the restaurants that will deliver to your postcode. For example, my search for Malvern East Takeaway brought up 49 restaurants I could order from.

The best thing about Menulog is that there are plenty of specials or deals to choose from. Other convenient features include sorting the restaurants by customer ratings, minimum order value and speed amongst other things. If you're craving for something specific, you can refine your search by cuisines (I searched for Thai Delivery for my order). All dishes are sorted into categories, so you can easily add them to your cart as you scroll along. After you pay, you will receive a text confirming the delivery time. Easy!

Our meal was delivered about half an hour later, and I love that we paid online in advance, because it meant we didn't have to fuss around with cash!
For our entrée, we ordered the deep fried soft shell crab. It wasn't as crispy as I had liked it (it had probably lost some heat along the way), but the juicy flavours were definitely there. You can't go wrong with sweet and sour sauce on the side either. However, I was quite disappointed with the amount we got for $8.50. Hubby and I both had two small piece each, and that was it.
We had pad thai with chicken as one of our mains. It was alright with a nice mix of ingredients (lots of peanuts!), but it was too salty for us.

Finally, we also ordered some green curry with prawns. It had lots of flavour and tasted really rich, most probably due to the coconut milk. The prawns, although weren't the freshest, were nice, and I also really liked addition of bamboo shoots.

Ultimately, it was a decent meal, but a little expensive for the quantity and quality of food we received. We probably won't order takeaway from here again, but we might dine in one day, and hopefully have a more positive experience.
