The Noodle Shop, Nunawading

On the way back from our first ever trip to Costco, we were looking for a place to have a quick dinner. I had filled myself up with a hot dog and large cup of Sprite (all for $2!) before we started shopping and 2 hours later, hubby really needed something to eat.

We came across The Noodle Shop, Nunawading. It is your typical local Chinese takeaway, with a generic name, serving generic dishes, so we didn't have any expectations at all.

char kway teow
Hubby ordered char kway teow, and it was massive! Apparently when the owner realised that the two of us were sharing one main dish, he said he would serve us a little extra, how sweet! To my surprise, it was really yummy. I could tell that the ingredients used were very fresh and this was definitely reflected through the dish's delicious taste. It was great to have a fine serve of egg, shrimp and vegetables with every mouthful. Even though I was really full, I really enjoyed it. We managed to finish half, and brought home the rest (which we both shared for lunch the next day!)

spring onion pancakes

Since I was still pretty filled up, I ordered some spring onion pancakes for myself. As with the char kway teow, the serving was large. It was nice but there was a little too much flour and wasn't as crispy as I hoped it to be.

All in all, we really liked the place! I'm not saying you should drive out of your way just to eat here, but if you live or happen to be in the area and want a cheap meal, please give this place a chance - you may be pleasantly surprised.

  1. Hi Melissa, I'm is a fan of your music and I habe been following and reading your blog since your first one. I knowbi don't really leave the comment after reading your posts but they are always good to read and learn more about you. :-)
I find its interesting that we both have a lot of similar things. I'm on my way to be come a pharmacists when you are already. ( I still remember the day when I found out you want to be a pharmacist, it made me feel closer to you even we never really talk or meet in person :-) )
Im happy for your lovely marriage and your talent about music and even Art. I feel like whenever I want to give up on music due to my stress for school and all other things in my life, thinking about you make me have my motivation again :-)
By the way, I have been listening your original album and I love it. One of the things that make me love your own piano song than other covers because they are unique to you and I find myself in your music. I have to say we have similar taste for MuMusic like Pop and Ballad songs. :-)
And last but not least, I try to find the sheet music that name " When I think of you" which was composed by you a while ago but I couldn't find it. :-( out of all sound tracks from you, I love " Waiting for the rainbow" and "whwn I think of you" the most. I already finished playing "waiting for the rainbow" already and I would like to learn the other one so bad. Unfortunately, I thimk you didnt transcribe that song on sheet music and so I wonder if you can post it or tranacribe it for me when you have time? I know you are a busy girl and I appreciate all of your time and hard work :-) I will wait for the sheet If you decide to upload it here and looking forward to your answer.
Have a wonderful week and once again I wish you all the best .

  2. Sorrt for my crappy English. I was using my phone when I wrote the comment so it took me like forever and the grammar isn't correct all the time.

  3. @ Lynn: Thank you so much for your lovely comment, it really makes me feel connected to hear from listeners / readers. In regards to 'When I Think Of You', I decided not to include it in my original album but if you would like the sheet music I would be glad to personally send it to your email address. Just drop me an email at and I will send it to you. Thank you once again! :)

  4. Thanks so much Melissa. I can't explain how happy and excited I am to begin to practice the song. I have been listening to it everyday just to get all the feelings you have put in the song so that I can play well like you :) Or at least try to express the song in a beautiful way.
I wish you and your family all the best for NEW YEAR and just you know , I always read and follow your wonderful blog. It's very simple but all the thoughts, feelings and even "charming" foods that you always share are actually meaningful to me. I don't want to make me sound like a stalker :-D but I do love your positive attitude which I can see or feel by the way you write your posts.
Thanks again and I hope you have a wonderful week. I hope your hubby treats you well on Valentine's week. You deserve it and hopefully I can see something special on your blog that day :)
