2013: Looking Back

It's the last day of the year. It always makes me feel a little nostalgic. Where did all that time go? Nevertheless, I like this time of the year because it allows me to reflect, and to create goals and plans for an even better year.

For me, 2013 was a year of personal growth. I did a lot, and thought a lot. At some point I found myself getting lost. I struggled a bit, but eventually realised that sometimes, getting a little lost is okay, because that is how you discover new things. Now I know where I want to be, and all that's left is the journey. And I will savour it, no matter how long it takes.

What did I do this year?

#1: Travel

I have been all over Australia this year. I've been on several road trips within Victoria - Echuca, Great Ocean Road, Rutherglen. Interstate-wise, I flew to Sydney (saw CN Blue live for the first time!), Queensland, Tasmania and Perth. And the biggest trip of all has to be our honeymoon in Maldives, one of the most beautiful islands we will possibly ever see in our lives. Travelling is amazing. I love how every single trip gives me different knowledge and experiences. I love how it reminds me that there is so much more to the world than just what we make it to be.

#2: Original Album

One of my biggest achievements this year would be the release of my original piano album. It was  a work in progress for a very long time and I never thought it would finally happen. I am so thankful to be able to share my music with the world and no matter how few or many listeners I have, I will always put my greatest effort in making the best music I can.

#3: Cooking & Baking

When we first got married two years ago, I admit I wasn't a very enthusiastic housewife. I didn't like cooking and washing, I found doing laundry such a chore and basically, I was just too lazy and too used to not having to do anything around the house. Coupled with the stress of exams and wedding planning last year, I didn't really have the time or motivation to learn these things. This year though, I have really learnt to enjoy cooking and baking. I have added several dishes to my dinner repertoire as well as simple cookies and cakes for dessert. Can't wait to learn and experiment with more complex recipes!

#4: Sewing

At some point this year, I must have been really frustrated with being unable to find clothes in addition to being really inspired by DIY blogs and tutorials. One day, hubby and I headed to Lincraft and bought the cheapest sewing machine we could find just in case my enthusiasm was temporary. However, throughout the year I have made a few skirts and pouches and even altered some of my clothes. I must say I am loving this new hobby! Once I up my skills a little more I will share them with you guys.

#5: Swimming

I can't believe it took a honeymoon trip to make me learn how to swim, but I'm glad I have finally tried to overcome my fear. For my whole life, the edge of a pool would be the closest I would get to large bodies of water. Although I am still afraid of swimming in the sea, I can quite comfortably swim in a pool that isn't too deep.

I've got a ambitious list in my mind for 2014, and I can't wait to see what I can do within another year. Here's to 2014!
